Food prices are out of control in our country. I just returned from 6 weeks in France where I shopped for food regularly and enjoyed high quality foods in every category. I cooked daily and always found plentiful fresh and nutritious foods in even the smallest towns.
My first trip to a grocery store upon returning home was absolute sticker shock. Prices for vegetables, fruits, dairy, eggs and meats were at least 5 times higher than in France.
Grocery stores are price gouging. Corporate profits, CEO compensations and shareholder returns are at all time highs while consumers are left helpless to do anything.
I am a 75 year old retired married woman who had a successful sales and entrepreneurial career. My husband is an 84 year old retired former entrepreneur and Federal Government employee. I used to think we were well off but now I feel frightened for our future as well as the future of our kids and grandkids. I also feel for those with less and can't imagine how they can live with prices so high and no relief in sight.
I am donating, voting, writing postcards and making phone calls to help you and down ballot democrats win this November. PLEASE do something about the ridiculous prices we face for everyday existence in America.
You and the Democratic Party are our only hope for a better future.
Thank you.
