Fight for democracy

To: Sen. Murray, Rep. Larsen, Sen. Cantwell

From: A verified voter in Edmonds, WA

September 9, 2025

We are living in this bizarre space in time, while we are watching, in real time, a forced famine and genocide. We are going about our lives, taking our kids to school, going to work, taking our kids to activities, cooking dinner, as this giant cloud is inching closer and closer. We can see it. We know it’s coming, but we don’t know what to do about it, so we just continue on as everything is normal. As a small business owner I spend my days working to secure my family income as I know an economic catastrophe is on the horizon and I don’t know if I will survive it. As a mom I am overcome with worry. I worry about mass shooters at school. I worry about masked men kidnapping our neighbors off of the street. I worry about the normalization of militarized cities, tariffs, disease, education and the effects of climate change. Will my kids be raised under a fascist regime? I can’t answer that. I am a practical person, grounded person and I cannot answer that. I am looking around, looking for those I thought would stand up, but I am just not seeing it. I am begging you, please fight for us. Do not follow status quo’s. We need leaders now more than ever who get that, who are willing to do whatever it takes, willing to fight, willing to take on Trump, MAGA and their billionaire tech bro funders. I understand if you do not feel up to it, this is an unprecedented time. Ask yourself, are you up to the monumental task of protecting democracy at all cost? That may not have been the job you signed up for, and I understand that, but that is the job you have. Thank you for reading my letter.
