The investigation reveals that the Trump administration hijacked what should have been a unifying national milestone. They quietly sidelined the official, bipartisan commission created by Congress (America250) and replaced it with a private, Trump-backed shadow LLC called "Freedom 250." This private entity was embedded inside the National Park Foundation to intentionally dodge congressional oversight and public records requests. According to the committee's findings, the Trump team used this shell company to execute a massive abuse of public trust: - Potential Wire Fraud: Trump-linked fundraisers allegedly tricked donors who wanted to support the official, nonpartisan celebration by giving them secret routing numbers that sent their money straight into the private Freedom 250 account instead. - Siphoned Taxpayer Money: Out of $150 million allocated by Congress, the Trump administration withheld the promised $100 million from the bipartisan commission, leaving them with just $25 million.
