I am writing to urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to take immediate action under the 25th Amendment of the United States Constitution to address the alarming and increasingly undeniable signs of President Trump’s cognitive and functional decline. His public appearances are marked by incoherence, disorientation, and an inability to complete coherent thoughts — a deterioration that poses a direct threat to the security and stability of our nation. Most troubling is not merely the decline itself, but what has filled the vacuum it has created: unelected individuals with no democratic mandate are visibly directing the policies and priorities of the executive branch, wielding extraordinary power over the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans without a single vote ever cast in their favor. The Democratic Party has too often been guilty of hesitancy in moments demanding bold action — as we witnessed with Justice Ginsburg’s refusal to step aside and the party’s prolonged reluctance to confront President Biden’s limitations. We cannot repeat those mistakes. The 25th Amendment exists precisely for moments like this one, and the cost of inaction — to our democracy, to the rule of law, and to the American people — is incalculable. I urge you to speak out publicly, demand a formal assessment of the President’s capacity to discharge the duties of his office, and build the coalition necessary to ensure that the levers of government remain in the hands of those accountable to the people
