congress I’m writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to take immediate action to oppose and remove the excessive tariffs currently being implemented. These tariffs are not only economically unsound, but they risk triggering inflation and placing unnecessary strain on hardworking Arkansans.
The idea that these tariffs will somehow bring manufacturing back to the U.S. is misguided. The economic landscape has evolved, and clinging to a manufacturing-centric model as the backbone of our future economy ignores the reality of global supply chains and modern industry. Worse still, some of these tariffs — like those on coffee — target goods we don’t even produce domestically. It’s ludicrous and punishing to consumers and businesses alike.
As our elected representative, I expect you to stand up for the interests of your constituents — not to rubber-stamp policy that is harmful and regressive. Capitulation on harmful decisions that increase costs for Arkansans and burden our economy should not be met with political reward. There must be accountability, and continued silence or inaction on these tariffs would be a clear failure in representation.
I respectfully request that you take a firm and vocal stand against these tariffs. Please protect the economic well-being of Arkansas families and fight for policies that reflect forward-thinking economic priorities, not backward political theater.
