Congress Must Enforce the Law and Compel Immediate Release of the Epstein Files
To: Rep. Carter, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn
From: A constituent in Leander, TX
January 26
Where are the Epstein Files? Congress passed binding laws. Deadlines were set. Those deadlines have been openly and deliberately ignored. The Department of Justice — under Attorney General Pam Bondi — is now in direct violation of federal law, and Congress is standing by while it happens. That is unacceptable. Under Article I of the United States Constitution, Congress holds the power of oversight, investigation, and enforcement. That authority is not symbolic. It is law. When Congress issues mandates and deadlines through duly enacted legislation, the Executive Branch is legally required to comply. The DOJ does not get veto power over statutes it finds inconvenient. Further, 2 U.S.C. §§ 192 and 194 make clear that failure to comply with lawful congressional requirements and oversight can constitute contempt of Congress. Congress also holds unquestioned authority over subpoenas, appropriations, and enforcement mechanisms to compel compliance. These are not optional tools. They exist precisely for moments like this. Pam Bondi does not get a special set of rules. The Department of Justice does not get to decide which laws it feels like following. Every other American is required to obey the law — and so are they. Right now, the DOJ is openly defying Congress. This is not a paperwork issue. This is not a “process delay.” This is lawlessness. When the Executive Branch ignores congressional mandates without consequence, the rule of law collapses into selective enforcement. The American people have waited long enough. Survivors have waited long enough. Justice delayed is justice denied — and what is happening now is not delay, it is obstruction. Why is the DOJ refusing to comply? Who are they protecting? What are they hiding? These files concern systemic abuse, powerful actors, and institutional failure. Every day the DOJ stalls, it looks less like bureaucratic inertia and more like a deliberate effort to shield the powerful while mocking the law. Congress has both the authority and the obligation to act — now. That means: • Immediate subpoenas • Contempt proceedings where warranted • Public hearings • Funding consequences • Direct enforcement of the law Congress already passed If an ordinary American ignored a congressional mandate, there would be consequences. The DOJ should be no different. Pam Bondi should be no different. The rule of law either applies to everyone, or it applies to no one. Right now, it is being openly trashed. Release the Epstein Files. Enforce the law. Hold the Department of Justice accountable — now. The American people are watching. History will remember whether Congress defended justice and the Constitution, or allowed corruption, silence, and fear to win.
