Protect abortion access and stop the wave of state-level bans and criminalization measures threatening pregnant people across this country. Four years after Dobbs ended the federal right to abortion, the situation has only gotten worse. Anti-abortion lawmakers introduced more than 80 bills this session alone targeting medication abortion, and lawmakers in 15 states pushed over 30 "prenatal equal protection" bills that would criminalize people for miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.
Abortion is healthcare. Nearly two-thirds of all abortions today are medication abortions, and one in four patients accesses that care through telehealth. Attempts to reclassify mifepristone and misoprostol as controlled substances would delay care not just for abortion, but for miscarriage management and life-threatening postpartum complications. These are not abstract policy debates. People have already lost their lives because of these bans.
No government has the right to override a person's medical decisions or criminalize their pregnancy outcomes. I expect my elected officials to stand firmly against every bill that restricts abortion access, surveils pregnant people, or punishes providers. Protect reproductive freedom now.
