Honor Our Pledge to Afghan Allies
To: Gov. Hochul
From: A verified voter in New York, NY
April 23
Please work with our other governors to bring those that assisted us in Afghanistan to their new home, The United States. We must honor the promise we made to those that risked everything to assist the United States and our missions. This should never be questioned by those wishing refuge and to assist our causes.
These allies must not be sent to Congo or other countries outside of our promise to them.
“To do anything less would […] repudiate the values we cherish as a nation of immigrants, and our longstanding tradition of providing refuge for the victims of religious, ethnic and political persecution.”
— President Gerald Ford,
speaking about resettling Vietnamese allies
