Release Gaetz Ethics Report for Attorney General Confirmation
To: Rep. Rose
From: A verified voter in Madison, TN
November 19
The House Ethics Committee report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz should be made public. There is precedent for releasing investigative reports even after a member has resigned, as was done with former Reps. Bill Boner in 1987 and Buz Lukens in 1990. The American people deserve transparency regarding the allegations of sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, and improper gift acceptance surrounding Gaetz, who is now President-elect Trump's nominee for attorney general. Senators tasked with considering this consequential nomination must have full access to the details in order to properly advise and provide consent. Making the report public upholds principles of government accountability and allows the Senate to carry out its constitutional duties thoroughly and responsibly. Your Republican colleagues in the Senate such as John Cornyn are asking to see the report, and I urge you as a constituent to support releasing the report publicly.
