I continue to be horrified by the continued dismantling of our democracy. I hear friends and others around me repeatedly say in disbelief that they never thought they’d see this. As you and everyone can clearly see our democracy is under assault. Judges, lawyers, universities, politicians, US citizens, new organizations are all being attacked. Recently a Judge was arrested with the rather obvious intent of intimidating Judges who are finding executive orders illegal and unconstitutional. This week a two year old US citizen was deported! Do you think that’s okay? Kilmer Abrego Garcia remains in a El Salvador concentration camp known for torture due to an administrative error while we pay for his detention. SCOTUS has rules unanimously that his return should be facilitated. That’s not happening. Are you okay with this? Others as well were deported without due process? Do you think that’s okay? We continue to align with Russia and blame Ukraine while Ukraine continues to be assaulted by Russia? Do you think that’s okay? Tariffs are repeatedly used to threaten our allies and other countries who are quickly moving to stop trade with us and firm trade with other countries. This is devastating our economy. Do you agree with this? A budget is being pushed through by republicans that will blow up the deficit by trillions while giving huge tax cuts to billionaires and gutting Medicaid. Do you agree? Do you think it’s okay to take healthcare away from Oklahomans to support tax cuts to billionaires and billionaire corporations? Our deficit is expanding quickly in this short time. Clearly the Doge cuts aren’t saving money but are destroying agencies that protect our food, water, air, our goodwill with other countries, our safety net…. While growing unemployment. Do you agree? We have students detained for exercising their free speech peacefully. Do you think protecting free speech is important? Our country is acting more and more like an authoritarian government. Do you think protecting democracy matters? Our country is less safe, our economy is getting crushed, citizens are angry, our safety net is getting gutted and we are alienating the world. Do you support this? Your silence reflects complicity. Your silence is a betrayal of your oath and to us!
