I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent following recent public appearances by President Trump, most notably his speech at Davos yesterday, and in light of the precedent set during the 2024 election cycle. When President Biden’s cognitive decline became apparent during the 2024 debate, Democrats made the difficult but responsible decision to pull their candidate. It was an acknowledgment that no individual, regardless of party or legacy, should hold the presidency if they are no longer fit for the demands of the office. That decision was painful, controversial, and necessary. The same standard must now be applied to President Trump. His Davos remarks—rambling, vindictive, and untethered from diplomatic reality—were not merely embarrassing on the global stage; they were dangerous. They reflected an instability compounded by a thin-skinned ego and a fixation on personal grievance that has already done immense damage to decades of alliance-building with European partners. These alliances are not vanity projects. They are pillars of global stability, economic security, and collective defense. It is profoundly alarming that a man demonstrating such volatility, cognitive decline, and hostility toward long-standing allies continues to receive unquestioning support from Republican leadership, while retaining access to nuclear codes and command over the U.S. military. This is not about party loyalty. It is about fitness for office, national security, and moral responsibility. Democrats proved in 2024 that no leader is above scrutiny when their mental capacity becomes a risk to the country. Republicans must now show the same courage. I urge you to publicly and unequivocally withdraw support from President Trump and to take all constitutionally appropriate steps to prevent an unfit leader from endangering our democracy, our alliances, and global peace. History will remember who chose power over principle—and who chose the country first.
