It’s time for Congress to take over tariffs. The current tariffs are putting the country into a recession and will hurt a lot of people. If tariffs are levied in the future, more thought needs to go into them than what has gone into these tariffs. For example, the goal of these tariffs is to increase industrial production in our country, but raw goods are needed for our industrial production are also subject to tariffs, thus making our industrial production more expensive and less competitive globally. We should select what industries are most important to us and use tariffs or other methods to support the growth of those industries. Trusting one person to levy tariffs is not working. I trust a more lengthy process that requires deliberation in Congress.
