To reopen the government, Republicans need to make a deal on health care with the Democrats. Threatening to fire more federal workers is certainly one option, but Republicans have already gutted the workforce and demoralized federal employees. I’m not sure the threats carry the weight Republicans hope they do.  Republicans are to blame for the job losses and government shutdown.
