Your Neglect of DOJ Accountability Demands Immediate Correction

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Chesterland, OH

February 19

I am writing to register my deep outrage at your continued refusal to address the serious public concerns raised by the Epstein files and the questions surrounding the Department of Justice’s handling of matters involving Donald Trump. Your silence is not neutral. It is an abdication of your constitutional responsibilities. The release of these documents has renewed public scrutiny of a long pattern of failures in oversight, transparency, and accountability. When evidence suggests that powerful individuals may have benefited from preferential treatment or inadequate investigation, Congress has a clear duty to act. That duty is not optional. It is embedded in your oath to support and defend the Constitution and to provide meaningful oversight of the executive branch. Your unwillingness to call for full disclosure of the Epstein files, your refusal to demand independent review of the DOJ’s conduct, and your consistent avoidance of any inquiry that might inconvenience your party leadership all raise serious questions about whether you are fulfilling the obligations of your office. Congressional oversight exists to prevent exactly this kind of erosion of public trust. Instead of exercising that authority, you have chosen to look away. The appearance of selective enforcement of the law is corrosive to the legitimacy of our institutions. When elected officials refuse to investigate credible concerns about misconduct or political interference, they undermine the rule of law itself. No individual is entitled to special treatment. No officeholder is exempt from scrutiny. No political calculation should outweigh the public’s right to the truth. I am calling on you to take immediate action. Support a full, independent investigation into the handling of the Epstein files. Demand transparency from the Department of Justice. Uphold your constitutional duty to provide oversight without fear or favor. If you are unwilling to do this, then you are failing the people you represent and failing the principles you swore to uphold. Your constituents are watching. The historical record is watching. Your refusal to act will be remembered as a choice, not an oversight.
