OPPOSE S. 4925

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Jefferson City, MO

July 16

Parents should decide what their children read, not politicians! S. 4925 is dangerously broad, withholding critical school funding for the mere mention of transgender people or nudity. Such a sweeping prohibition threatens health, art, and science education. The bill is ideological grandstanding and political overreach, pure and simple. This type of fear-mongering and censorship cannot become law! Libraries are welcoming spaces where everyone can discover new ideas, explore different perspectives, and find resources that matter to them. When books are removed because of political pressure, those opportunities disappear. Protecting the freedom to read means trusting families, supporting libraries, and ensuring that everyone has access to the knowledge and stories that help us better understand the world. OPPOSE S. 4925!
