Americans are already paying more for necessities—housing, food, energy—and any further escalation in inflation pressures hurts households and families trying to make ends meet. Given this trajectory, it's critical to understand that Trump's policies—especially tariffs—are compounding the problem. Tariffs are effectively taxes on consumers, raising retail prices on imported goods. In this context, pushing for new tariffs would deepen inflation, not alleviate it. I urge you to: Closely monitor and respond to these rising inflation trends. Oppose any move to reimpose broad tariffs. Support measures that strengthen the Federal Reserve's independence in managing inflation. Our economic recovery remains fragile, and the current trend under Trump’s policies is steering in the wrong direction.
