SECDEF - Senate needs to hold hearings!

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO

May 22, 2025

The SECDEF invited ALL pentagon personnel to a “CHRISTIAN PRAYER AND WORSHIP SERVICE” today, 21 May 2025. This is a clear violation of the Establishment clause, which states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” There ARE no ‘suggestions’ from a commander and certainly not the SECDEF – when an invite is sent, it’s clear this is expected. I realize you have NO military service but you should know pentagon personnel would feel pressured to attend. WHAT in the world are you doing to investigate his complete lack of competence including no security awareness, apparently no knowledge of the Constitution and no idea that his wife should not be included in his classified discussions. What questions are you asking and what do you plan to do? YOU SUPPORTED HIM – YOU OWN THIS MESS. I’d like an answer. The pentagon investigation is NOT the only one that can occur – I expect the Senate to do something. While you are at it – check on that free jet that just arrived since SECDEF seems to be the one who accepted it.
