I am writing to express my strong opposition to Senate Bill 2 (SB 2) and House Bill 3 (HB 3), which would divert critical public school funding to private institutions through a school voucher program. As a [parent/teacher/community member] in [Your City/District], I am deeply concerned about the negative impact this legislation will have on millions of Texas students and teachers.
Public schools are the foundation of our communities—but vouchers will take away funding that schools desperately need for teachers, classrooms, and student resources. Private schools are not required to serve all students—they can deny admission based on disability, income, or other factors. This bill does not promote true school choice—it only benefits a select few while weakening the education system for the majority.
Instead of taking money away from public schools, we should be investing in better teacher pay, modernized facilities, and support for students with special needs. Texas ranks below the national average in per-student funding—our priority should be strengthening public education, not diverting resources to unregulated private institutions.
I urge you to vote NO on school vouchers and stand up for Texas public schools. The future of our children depends on it.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
