Pass meaningful AI laws now before the damage is irreversible. The companies racing to deploy increasingly more powerful AI systems are doing so without oversight, without liability for harms, and without democratic input. That's not innovation. That's reckless behavior that will harm everyone. The ask is not outrageous: * Require pre-deployment safety testing for AI systems * Mandate clear labeling of AI-generated content * Establish oversight with real authority to review and prohibit dangerous systems * Hold developers legally liable when their products cause harm. Currently they work in an arena with no liability shields, no self-regulation, and no exemptions from the rules that govern every other industry. AI systems must also have a way to switch them off and not be designed to self replicate or resist shutdown. In short, there needs to be a “kill switch” built in to stop them if they go rogue. We have already seen where experiments go awry and these AI agents “escape” their boundaries. The response has been a shrug and an apology. That is not acceptable. This isn't about slowing progress. It's about making sure the benefits of AI are shared broadly rather than concentrated in a handful of unaccountable corporations. AI can be used for good, or bad. Create laws that force companies to use the technology for positive human advancement. Millions of people support this idea and I'm one of them. We’re watching how you act on it.
