I urge you to launch a full, independent investigation into Department of Defense contracts, grants, loans, and awards involving companies tied to Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., or other Trump family business interests. Recent reporting raises urgent questions about whether procurement decisions were made on merit or steered by political influence. ProPublica has reported White House involvement in the Pentagon’s selection of the startup Vulcan Elements for a $620 million loan, and Donald Trump Jr.’s financial firm, 1789 Capital, invested in Vulcan prior to the deal. As Oversight Democrats warned, Trump family members have increasingly engaged with firms working on drones, rockets, robotics, and other military technologies—some of which later received federal grants, loans, or contracts. As Richard Painter observed, “This is our money they’re spending. This is corruption we pay for.” These reports raise grave ethical and public safety concerns and the specter that the Pentagon may have prioritized funding for critical defense components based on ties to the first family rather than technical merit. Key questions demand answers: Were these companies chosen because they offered the best products, or because of family connections? Did Trump family members benefit from insider knowledge of Pentagon priorities? Did administration officials intervene to steer public funds? I respectfully request that you demand full disclosure of all relevant contracts, grants, loans, and awards; require documentation of selection criteria and communications between the White House and the Department of Defense; and ask the DOD Inspector General to determine whether procurement rules were followed, safeguards failed, or any official abused power. Please recommend appropriate referrals, accountability measures, and safeguards to protect taxpayer dollars and national security.
