Abolish ICE, Support and Strengthen the ‘Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Neguse, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Lafayette, CO

January 24

I am your constituent residing in Colorado. Given the horrific ICE abuses over the past year, I ask that you: 1. Abolish ICE. The lack of accountability and abuse in this agency make it irredeemable. It did not exist before 2003, and our country functioned just fine without it. ICE’s action in the past year alone has made America a far more dangerous nation. They are a threat to the rule of law and democracy. If you are not yet able to support abolishing ICE, I ask that, at a minimum, you: 2. Push to defund ICE by opposing any appropriations bill that maintains ICE funding and supporting legislation that claws back the $75 billion ICE slush fund created by H.R. 1 last year. This lawless agency is violently attacking and killing immigrants and citizens around the country and must be defunded and dissolved for good. 3. Support and Strengthen the “Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act”. Support the proposed regulations that Use-of-Force Standards require agents to provide identification and prohibit masks, ban the use of lash-bangs, rubber bullets, pepper balls, and tear gas, require body cameras, require oversight, transparency, and training. Additionally, please outlaw racial and immigrant profiling. Limit ICE’s ability to question an individual to when there is evidence of an immigration violation.
