What is a Republican?

To: Rep. Feenstra, Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst

From: A verified voter in Ames, IA

December 30

I'm genuinely depressed and unimpressed at this point. I have lost count on how many times I've sent this question to you. And I have never gotten a reply. This SHOULD be a very easy question. What does it mean to be a Republican? What are the core values that you believe in? I'm not seeing the same values that the party had 10+ years ago, and I'd truly like to know what it means to be Republican today? What standards do you hold yourself to? What is your definition of a qualified Republican leader? Where do morals, personal history, and ethics belong in leadership? What happened to the party that impeached Bill Clinton? What are the reasons behind the party changes? What are your plans? Heck, I'll accept your concepts of plans. So far this year all I see is a lot of dwelling on the past and airing of grievances. So what the heck is a Republican today?
