I am deeply disturbed by the names being announced for Trump's proposed cabinet. I know you can't vote no on all of them, but I ask that you vote "no" for Pete Hegseth/Sec of Defense- he is not qualified to keep us safe from global threats, "no" for Matt Gaetz/AG- he is far too partisan and problematic for what is supposed to be the most objective/ethical governmental role, and "no" to Kennedy/Sec of HHS- every scientist of any honesty says it is just a matter of time until the next global pandemic (it is critical that NIH be led by someone who believes in the importance of vaccines). I wish you could say "no" to Musk- with his billions of dollars and ties to Russia, he has far too many conflicts of interest to care about Americans' well being. But I understand that isn't a position the Congress can protect us from. I am not very hopeful, but I pray that your ancestors will guide you to make courageous decisions for the safety and well being of all Americans in alignment with the principles of democracy. I know there is a deep divide between the ideals of "states' rights" and a "strong federal government," but as a member of the Federal Government, I hope you can walk the fine line of protecting our Constitution and our system of checks and balances.
