I oppose this war because I believe it makes Americans less safe, not more. The Trump administration and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have offered changing explanations for U.S. involvement while asking the American people to accept another military conflict. Congress and the public deserve full transparency, honest debate, and constitutional oversight before the United States is drawn deeper into another war. I do not believe this conflict is about protecting Americans. I believe it is being used to distract the public from serious domestic problems while enriching the military-industrial complex and politically connected interests. That is my view, and it is one more reason I oppose it. I also believe Prime Minister Netanyahu has had extraordinary influence over U.S. policy in the region. Regardless of that influence, the responsibility for sending Americans into harm's way belongs to the President of the United States—not to a foreign leader. What frustrates me most is watching politicians go on television and treat the American people as if we are too uninformed to question another war. We have lived through decades of conflicts sold with promises that failed to match reality. Skepticism is not unpatriotic. Demanding evidence, accountability, and congressional oversight is not weakness. It is democracy. I will continue to oppose wars of choice, regardless of which party starts them. If you believe America should invest in healthcare, education, infrastructure, disaster relief, and working families instead of endless military conflicts, then vote accordingly. Peace is not weakness. Accountability is not weakness. Refusing to be manipulated into supporting another war is not weakness.
