The killing of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, was tragic. But what is just as enraging is the hypocrisy in the response. For years, Kirk and his allies ridiculed victims of gun violence, blocked reform, and told grieving families to “be quiet” whenever they demanded action. Now—because the violence finally touched one of their own—the outrage is instant, and the calls for security are loud.
Let’s not pretend this is about protecting the public. This is about protecting power. MAGA voices are already spinning Kirk’s death into martyrdom while ignoring the thousands of ordinary people slaughtered in schools, grocery stores, churches, concerts, and neighborhoods.
And here’s the truth: this is not just a national problem—it is a state problem. Gun violence is killing people right here in our communities, and state leaders like you have the power to do something about it. So far, too many of you have done nothing.
That must end now. I demand that you:
1. Pass real state-level gun reform. Universal background checks, red-flag laws, safe storage requirements, limits on assault-style weapons—stop hiding behind excuses and lobbyist money.
2. Reject selective outrage. Do not let this tragedy be used to score cheap political points while you look away from the violence in your own backyard. Either you care about all lives, or you don’t care at all.
3. Stop treating human lives as partisan currency. If children in classrooms, families in churches, and neighbors at grocery stores don’t move you to act, but a political figure does, then your priorities are broken—and your constituents see it.
Every single day that you fail to act, blood is spilled on our streets. The hypocrisy of waiting until violence touches someone powerful to acknowledge the crisis is shameful, and the people of this state deserve better.
If you want to prove you actually represent us—not just your party, not just your donors—then show it. Pass meaningful reforms. Protect all of us, not just the privileged few.
