Vote No on the SAVE Act — Don't Strip 21 Million Americans of the Vote

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

June 28

Vote no on the SAVE Act. This bill would require every American to produce a passport or birth certificate just to register to vote — and according to Brennan Center research, 21 million people don't have ready access to those documents. Half of all Americans don't own a passport. Millions of married women who've changed their names would face additional bureaucratic hurdles. This isn't election security. It's voter suppression at a scale Congress has never attempted before. The broader context makes this worse. The FBI raided election offices in Fulton County, Georgia, with no clear legal justification. Steve Bannon has publicly threatened to "have ICE surround the polls" — which would be a federal crime. Trump has falsely claimed that states are "agents of the federal government" in elections, which the Constitution flatly contradicts. The SAVE Act fits a pattern: use federal power to control who votes and who counts. My vote, and the votes of millions of eligible Americans, should not be a casualty of that agenda. Block this bill.
