STOP TRUMP’S WAR-MONGERING
To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Pfluger, Sen. Cruz

March 9
“We’re marching through the world,” Senator Lindsay Graham said Sunday on Fox. “We’re cleaning out the bad guys. We’re gonna have relationships with new people that will make us prosperous and safe. I have never seen anybody like it. This is Ronald Reagan Plus. Donald Trump is resetting the world in a way nobody could have dreamed of a year ago. He is the greatest commander in chief of all time. Our military is the best of all time. Iran is going down, and Cuba is next.” What is Senator Graham on? His daddy issues have gotten out of hand. He is a humiliation. And one of the reasons we’re watching America tumble. Trump’s fantasy of a nice tidy one-day triumph in Iran and then a kumbaya where he basks in adulation has turned into one of his typical ‘now what?’ debacles. The ships that carry about 20% of the world’s oil are not traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices are surging. Hitting us at the gas pump. Gas prices rose 14% last week. Jet fuel and diesel will become more expensive. But Trump chose to do what he always does when faced with consequences of his actions…calls us stupid. He posted that high oil prices are “a very small price to pay for U.S.A., and World, Safety and Peace. ONLY FOOLS WOULD THINK DIFFERENTLY.” And can y’all explain how we are financing this war? The national debt has ballooned under both Trump administrations. Republicans last summer justified dramatic cuts to government programs, including healthcare and SNAP, by insisting that it must be addressed. Now Trump is spending an estimated $1B a day on Operation Epic Fury. And apparently Congress is about to give him more. How is it that there was no money for programs that helped the American people, but appears to be plenty for a war of choice in the Middle East? Then we see rookie mistakes being made? On March 4, a US submarine torpedoed an Iranian warship in international waters. The vessel was not participating in hostilities. It was off Sri Lanka returning from a naval exercise organized by India in the Bay of Bengal. In the past, the US has participated in those exercises. The ship was believed to have 180 people on board. Sri Lankan officials said they rescued 32 and recovered 87 bodies from the water. Hegseth boasted: “An American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters.” The US appears to bear responsibility for the February 28 strike on a girls’ school in southern Iran. The strike appears to have killed 168 people or more, many of them children. Multiple outlets have reported that the U.S. was operating in the area and Israel was not. We have a billionaire president who has bankrupted most every business endeavor he has attempted. Now he’s in charge of America’s pocketbook. But he will ultimately walk away from the devastation he has caused richer than ever before. We have a wannabe Christian Crusader who exults in bloodshed and devastation and calls it glorious. Both of them live in a world of fantasy. While real people die around them and they call it victory. And no one can even tell us what it is all for.
