I am writing to urge you to support impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Pam Bondi following her recent combative appearance before the House Judiciary Committee. Her conduct during questioning about the Epstein files raises serious concerns about her fitness to serve as the nation's chief law enforcement officer.
When an attorney general lies under oath, it strikes at the foundation of our justice system. The position demands absolute integrity because it holds unique power over federal prosecutions, civil rights enforcement, and the rule of law itself. If the person leading the Department of Justice cannot be trusted to tell the truth to Congress, they cannot be trusted to uphold justice for the American people.
Beyond the allegations of perjury, reports indicate that Bondi has defied legal orders. This represents a fundamental breach of her constitutional duties. An attorney general who selectively chooses which laws to follow or which court orders to obey creates a dangerous precedent that undermines the separation of powers and judicial authority. No one is above the law, especially not the person charged with enforcing it.
The House Judiciary Committee's questioning revealed a pattern of evasiveness and hostility that is unbecoming of the office. Americans deserve an attorney general who respects congressional oversight, answers questions truthfully, and demonstrates accountability to the people's representatives.
Impeachment exists precisely for situations where high officials abuse their power or violate their oath of office. The evidence emerging from the hearing suggests that Bondi has crossed that line. I urge you to carefully review the testimony, support a thorough investigation into these allegations, and vote in favor of impeachment articles if the evidence substantiates perjury and defiance of legal orders.
Our justice system depends on leaders who honor their oaths. When they fail to do so, Congress must act.
