Our Constitution reserves the power to declare war for Congress, not for foreign allies or unilateral executive action. Committing American troops, resources, and lives to a foreign conflict without a direct, unambiguous threat to the United States is a profound decision that deserves the fullest scrutiny — not a rubber stamp born of political pressure or diplomatic obligation.
I believe that dragging the United States into this conflict would run counter to our nation’s core interests:
• It risks American lives and resources in a war that is not our own to fight.
• It could draw the U.S. into a wider regional conflict with unpredictable and potentially catastrophic consequences.
• It sidesteps the constitutional requirement that decisions of this magnitude be made deliberately, transparently, and with full congressional debate.
To commit our forces without meeting that bar is not loyalty to an ally — it is a betrayal of the trust the American people place in their government to protect their interests first. I do not use that word lightly, but I believe it captures the stakes of this vote.
I urge you to vote NO on joining our military forces to Israel’s, and to instead support diplomatic, humanitarian, and non-military avenues for addressing this crisis.
