I am a Colorado constituent writing to express serious concern — not about Donald Trump, but about Democratic strategy.
The recent push to invoke the 25th Amendment is, with respect, an embarrassing tactical mistake. Everyone paying attention knows it has zero path to success. The Vice President and Cabinet are loyalists. It is not happening. What it does accomplish is giving the Republican Party exactly the narrative they need heading into the 2026 midterms: that Democrats are consumed by revenge politics, have no interest in governing, and cannot be trusted with a Senate majority.
I want Democrats to win in November. I want accountability for this administration’s actions. But performative gestures like this do not hold Trump accountable — they make us look unserious. Every dollar of GOP ad spend in 2026 will feature moments like this, and it will work.
Hold Trump accountable? Absolutely. Make sure the voting public understands who he is and what he has done? Yes — loudly and clearly. But pick battles that can actually be won, or at minimum, battles that advance a coherent governing message.
The American people do not want another four years of political theater from either party. They want someone with a plan. Right now, the 25th Amendment push is not a plan — it is a gift to the opposition.
I am asking you to be smarter than this. The Senate majority may depend on it.
