Demand Congressional Investigation — Ongoing Illegal ICE Activity in Minnesota
To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Nunn
From: A verified voter in Des Moines, IA
March 12
A federal judge found that ICE violated at least 96 court orders in Minnesota since January 1, 2026. Two Minnesotans are dead, killed by federal agents on their own streets. And ICE is still operating here — in defiance of court orders, in defiance of the announced drawdown, and in defiance of the Constitution.
I am your constituent. I am asking you to answer for this.
On February 12, 2026, White House border czar Tom Homan stood in Minneapolis and announced that Operation Metro Surge was over. It is not over. Roughly 400 agents remain in Minnesota — more than twice the normal coverage for our entire region. They are staging outside elementary schools. They are going door to door in disguise. They are using unmarked vehicles. Elected state officials have confirmed that activity has not decreased. In some areas it has intensified.
The misconduct is documented and severe. Chief U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz found ICE violated 96 court orders. Judge Jerry Blackwell stated that the overwhelming majority of people ICE brought before him were lawfully present in the United States. The ACLU has filed two class-action lawsuits documenting warrantless arrests, racial profiling, and retaliation against protesters and journalists.
And two people are dead. Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot and killed by federal agents on Minnesota streets. They were U.S. citizens.
I am asking you three questions, publicly and on the record:
Two Minnesotans are dead and a federal judge found nearly 100 court order violations. What specific action are you taking about that — not studying, not monitoring, but taking?
Do you believe federal agents operating in disguise, staging outside schools, and defying court orders is acceptable conduct on American soil?
If this were happening in any other country, you would call it what it is. What do you call it here?
This is not a partisan question. It is a constitutional one. I am asking for a plain human answer within 10 days — both in a public statement and in a direct response to me as your constituent.
Your answer — or your silence — will tell us everything we need to know
