Cosponsor the Melt ICE Act and do your part to protect our communities against the violence and terror immigration agents have unleashed upon our cities. All across the country, from Minneapolis to LA to Chicago, immigration agents have unleashed all-out terror against our communities. Nationwide, Americans are demanding justice. We demand accountability for the violence unfolding on our streets, and we are demanding policies that address OUR needs. By co-sponsoring the Melt ICE Act, you have the opportunity to demonstrate that you stand with us, the people, and will prioritize the resources that truly keep us safe: healthcare, housing, public education. The Melt ICE Act is a bold piece of legislation that urgently meets the moment we’re up against by calling to: - Close ALL immigration detention facilities - Release our immigrant neighbors from detention, ensuring they can reunite with their families and communities - End electronic monitoring to protect our communities from torture, abuse, and death at the hands of our country’s immigration system - Invest in our communities by redirecting our tax dollars from ICE funding to community-based services that support the American people. Our communities have witnessed the danger of allocating billions of our taxpayer dollars to the Department of Homeland Security. Last year’s Big Ugly Bill provided $45 BILLION for detention, leading to the agency’s deadliest year in more than two decades. In 2025, a record 32 deaths were reported under ICE custody, and as of January 20th there have already been 6 deaths in January 2026 alone. On January 7, after more than 2,000 immigration agents were deployed to Minnesota, we witnessed the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good at the hands of a federal ICE agent. We know more funding will only result in more death, violence, and destruction unleashed upon our communities. At a time when our communities are struggling to afford rising grocery and housing prices, you should redirect money away from taxpayer-funded violations and instead invest in the resources that working families and people on fixed incomes need. Cosponsor the Melt ICE Act today!
