An Open Letter

To: Rep. Larsen, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Bellingham, WA

April 1

I’m writing as a constituent to urge you to treat Americans’ ability to travel freely and safely as a fundamental right—not a political bargaining chip. Access to transportation is essential for people to work, care for their families, obtain medical care, and live their daily lives. When funding or operations for our transportation systems are disrupted or used for leverage in political negotiations, it directly harms everyday Americans. I ask that you: • Fully and consistently fund airport operations, including TSA staffing and infrastructure • Ensure robust support for air traffic control systems and personnel • Invest in safe, reliable rail systems and stations nationwide • Prioritize roadway safety, maintenance, and modernization These systems are not optional—they are the backbone of our economy, public safety, and personal freedom. Americans should never have to worry that their ability to travel will be compromised due to political conflict. Please commit to protecting and strengthening our nation’s transportation infrastructure without interruption or political interference. Thank you for your time and service
