Reject baseless transgender 'social contagion' myth, support equality

To: Rep. Wagner, Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

Recent false claims of being transgender as a "social contagion" are not supported by scientific evidence and perpetuate harmful myths. Studies have repeatedly debunked this narrative, which stigmatizes gender diversity and promotes discrimination against transgender individuals. Respecting human rights and providing access to affirming healthcare should be prioritized over outdated prejudices. This notion is rooted in the same discriminatory rhetoric used historically to suppress LGBTQ+ rights and existence. It is crucial to reject these unfounded assertions, which can enable further marginalization and injustices against an already vulnerable community. Protecting the wellbeing and equality of all people, regardless of gender identity, must take precedence over ideological biases. An evidence-based, compassionate approach is needed to support transgender youth and adults.
