I am writing as a constituent to express serious concerns about the treatment of federal employees and the ongoing changes affecting federal agencies. The administration has proposed freezing base and locality pay for most civilian federal employees in 2027. The President’s alternative pay plan states that civilian federal employee pay would remain at 2026 levels, while certain federal law enforcement personnel would receive a 3.8 percent increase. Congress retains the ability to establish different pay rates. This proposal comes amid broader changes to the federal workforce and federal agencies. Russ Vought, as Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Scott Kupor, as Director of the Office of Personnel Management, occupy positions with significant responsibility for federal workforce and agency management. I am concerned about the cumulative effect these policies may have on federal employees, recruitment and retention, institutional knowledge, and the ability of agencies to provide reliable services to the American public. Federal employees should not be treated as an afterthought when decisions are being made about the future capacity of the government. I also want Congress to exercise its constitutional responsibility to oversee the executive branch and to carefully consider the consequences of changes affecting federal agencies and their employees. Congress has an important role in determining federal funding and compensation, and constituents deserve transparency about how these decisions will affect the services they rely upon. I am asking you to clearly state your position on the proposed 2027 federal pay freeze and on the broader changes being made to the federal workforce and federal agencies. Most importantly, I want to know what you are doing in Congress to ensure that federal employees are treated fairly and that federal agencies have the personnel and resources necessary to serve the American people. If you want to be reelected and continue representing this district, you need to start standing up for your constituents, including the federal employees who live and work in our communities. We need representatives who will hold this administration accountable when policies threaten the workforce and the federal institutions that serve the American people. As your constituent, I expect you to take these concerns seriously and provide a substantive response explaining your position and the actions you intend to take.
