Senate Bill 2307 poses a grave threat to these core values by enabling censorship and empowering the criminalization of library professionals. This misguided legislation undermines local control, strips decision-making authority from library boards and school districts, and opens the door to legal harassment through a vague definition of "sexually explicit" materials. Rather than addressing a non-existent problem, it creates a chilling effect that will force libraries to divert limited resources away from essential services. We must defend our public libraries as pillars of democracy and enrichment. I urge you to vote against SB 2307 and preserve the freedom to read and access information that is a fundamental right for all North Dakotans.
