I am reaching out as a constituent to urge you to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act.
This bill was introduced by Representatives Delia Ramirez, Sara Jacobs, Pramila Jayapal, and Mark Pocan with 18 original co-sponsors. It is standalone legislation that proactively challenges U.S. complicity in atrocity crimes against Palestinians in Gaza by prohibiting the worst offender offensive weapons — including bombs, tank rounds, and artillery shells — that are U.S. supplied and have been involved in the mass killing of Palestinian civilians and grossest violations of international law in Gaza.
The Block the Bombs Act represents what the majority of Americans want: to stop sending weapons to Israel to carry out atrocities against Palestinians.
The U.S. has sent Israel over $30 billion in weapons to carry out atrocities since October of 2023. Now the Israeli government is rapidly escalating its starvation and killing of Palestinians with President Trump’s full support. The Israeli government has blocked aid from entering since March and is openly declaring that it intends to flatten Gaza.
Over the past 20 months, President Biden and President Trump have failed to implement existing U.S. laws that call for the halting of weapons to the Israeli military as it carries out genocide against Palestinians. Through the Block the Bombs Act Congress would take back power from the Trump administration in order to stop the ongoing shipment of weapons to Israel. This is the only way to end U.S. complicity in this genocide, save lives, and create a pathway toward a just and sustainable peace for all.
I ask you to immediately co-sponsor this critical legislation to save lives.
