Protect mail-in voting from this Republican administration

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

June 24

As a voter and volunteer poll worker, I am strongly opposed to this Republican administration’s proposal which would amount to a federal takeover of state mail-in voting systems. This is another effort by this administration to seize more power and interfere in our free and democratic elections. Its sole aim is to keep eligible Americans from voting. Voting is a fundamental right and freedom to all Americans. It must be freely available to all eligible voters. For some Americans, voting by mail is their only option. In 2024, nearly one-third of voters, tens of millions of Americans, voted by mail. The president himself has voted by mail multiple times. These proposed changes would make it harder for many to do the same. The USPS should keep its focus on its core mission of providing reliable, affordable, universal mail service, especially for all voting- and election-related mail. My wife and I urge you to stop this administration’s plans for mail-in voting. Block the USPS from adopting this proposed rule.
