As a teacher in Kansas, I am writing to ask you to vote no on the “Big Beautiful Bill.” I read this morning that the dependant age for SNAP benefits drops from 18 to 7. This is absolutely ridiculous. As a teacher, I immediately think of third graders—are they supposed to go out and get jobs to pay for their meals? When are they supposed to work, during the school day? We literally teach multiplication of whole numbers in third grade—these children don’t even have the mathematical reasoning to understand wages. They should be in schools, learning. And when school is out, they should be playing on the playground, not worrying where their next meal will come from.
I find the “Big Beautiful Bill” to be maliciously stealing food from children who need it most. Vote no on the Big Beautiful Bill.
