The Redcoats of ICE: what would the founders think?

To: Rep. Scanlon, Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Garnet Valley, PA

January 27

I write to you today troubled and angry about the current issues that appear to plague our federal law enforcement agencies. As a physician who has dedicated his life to preserving life, I find the recent actions in Minneapolis to be a fundamental betrayal of the rule of law. The shooting of Alex Pretti and Good represents a slide into a state where "jackbooted thugs" wander our streets, enforcing a version of order that is opaque and frankly undemocratic. if this becomes the new norm, we will soon be unable to recognize the country we live in. If a rule exists that allows agents of the state to execute citizens without trial, it cannot be enforced without violating our civil rights. The lawlessness of those who should uphold the law suggests to me that perhaps these agencies need a reminder as to their core mission- or to be disbanded and started anew. I believe you have a choice in front of you. You must vote to impeach the heads of ICE and CBP immediately, or be held up by history’s measure as wanting- as the rights that our nation was built on are trampled on. Our forefathers would recognize the acts of ICE and DHS as the actions of a mad tyrant across the sea carried out by his redcoats. Sadly, our tyrant now seems to reside on Pennsylvania Ave. Those liable for these murders, and their supervisors who allowed this culture to fester, need to be jailed. A conversation about this, at least, could have been had, but now action is required. Stop this madness- and say your part, or be held to account at the polls.
