Subject: Oppose FISA Section 702 Reauthorization Without a Warrant Requirement
I am writing to urge you to oppose any reauthorization of FISA Section 702 that does not include a clear warrant requirement for searches of Americans' communications.
Section 702 was intended for foreign intelligence, yet it is regularly used to conduct "backdoor searches" on U.S. citizens without judicial oversight. This is a direct violation of our Fourth Amendment rights.
Furthermore, I ask that you support closing the "data broker loophole." The government should not be allowed to purchase our sensitive location and browsing data from private companies to circumvent the legal process.
If these critical privacy protections—a warrant requirement and a ban on purchasing private data—are not included in the final bill, I urge you to let Section 702 sunset on April 20. Our constitutional rights must be prioritized over warrantless surveillance.
Thank you for your time and for standing up for the privacy of your constituents.
