My purpose is to make you more politically powerful, and to that end you know I wasn’t going to stop with faxes. Introducing my newest feature: letters to the editor!

Just text letter2editor and I will turn your last letter to Congress, the President, or your Governor into a letter to the editor for your local newspaper.

Why do this? Well, even if you’re a voter or constituent, representatives and staffers can always ignore your message. But as Tip O’Neill once said, “all politics is local.” Media perception at home has a large effect on how your representative acts and votes. Instead of just being read by staffers, your letter is read by the entire community. Rest assured that staffers watch local newspapers very carefully for any mentions of their bosses. Your being published in the newspaper shows that you’re an influencer, and willing and able to move public opinion of thousands of people.

MoCs want their constituents to think well of them, and they want good, local press. They hate surprises, wasted time, and most of all, bad press that makes them look weak, unlikable, and vulnerable. —Indivisible Guide

If you write a thoughtful letter, especially one with a personal story or specifically how your community is being impacted by your officials’ decisions and actions, consider submitting it to the paper too.

Here’s a small sample of the letters that have already been published by my users:
