SUBJECT: Support H.R. 4408, H.R. 1639, and the House Resolution Condemning Police Brutality As your constituent, I am writing to urge your support of the following bills addressing racial injustice in the United States: H.R. 4408, which would place a federal ban on the use of chokeholds or any pressure to the neck by the police. H.R. 1636, which would establish the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys within the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Office of the Staff Director to make a systematic study of the conditions affecting black men and boys. I hope you will also support the House Resolution introduced by Reps. Pressley, Omar, Bass and Lee that condemns all acts of police brutality, racial profiling, and the use of excessive and militarized force throughout the country. Black men are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by the police than white men. Please encourage your fellow members of Congress to act NOW to stop the systematic brutalization of American citizens by the police.
