An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Support USPS with legislation

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

When Democrats are in control of the Senate and the White House I expect you to pass bills that clarify that the USPS is a service, that is NOT self-sufficient. USPS is not a business , it is a service. I'm especially disturbed by the implication that remote facilities not be funded. All Americans must have an expectation that they will get the best service possible from the post office regardless of the cost to the government. If we can afford to pour money into the Pentagon -which is totally incapable of accounting for that money, then the federal government can afford to provide the Postal Service to every American citizen at a reasonable rate. It is absurd that we have the money to surveil and drop bombs on foreign countries but we don't have the money to deliver the mail in a timely manner. We are not at War. It is time for the federal government to prioritize service to Americans instead of bailing out banks, corporations, and billionaires! Americans are angry. We are hurting. We are desperate. And all we see coming from Congress is failure. Do better.
