Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Not mad, not sad, just ‘meh’ today. But like coffee is needed to start the day productively, so is my daily venting. Gotta keep my chops up.
Most interesting thing today is the fallout (wholly predictable) from last night’s ABC Town Hall with undecided voters.
Really, undecided? Perfect segue to my favorite Davis Sedaris quote on undecided voters: “To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.”
But I digress. What we saw was the boy out of his bubble and confronted with reality in the form of questioners unimpressed with his campaign blather. And he was not able to get up and leave when he got a hard question. Or tell them they were ‘nasty.’ It was uncomfortable to watch. But I’m sure he thought he did his usual ‘perfect’ job.
He didn’t of course. He rattled off his usual lies, distortions, nonsensical thoughts, leaving people confused as to WTF point he was trying to make. Kept the fact checkers busy as always.
If anybody left still undecided as to where their vote should go, I give up.
Can’t wait till the first debate. It should be cringe-worthy TV at its finest. It’ll be a first-rate illustration of a recent quote by an ex-Trump administration official:
"To him a lie is not a lie. It's just what he thinks. He doesn't know the difference between the truth and a lie.”
I think there’s a mental-health term for that. And it shouldn’t be ‘American President.’
