An open letter to the U.S. Senate

No DHS/CPB in cities and send COVID data to CDC

I am a member of Indivisible CA33. I'm writing to you today regarding two issues. First, I'm deeply disturbed by the recent paramilitary occupations happening in Portland and being deployed to other cities. This is absolutely unacceptable, and the news today that individuals are being arrested proactively, before committing any crime, is absolute fascism. Please join Senator Harris in co-sponsoring Sen. Merkley's legislation, the Preventing Authoritarian Policing Tactics on America’s Streets Act. the We must stop this gross violation of our constitutional rights. Second, I am also very concerned by the Trump Administration’s change in protocol, which forces hospitals to report COVID-19 data to HHS instead of the CDC. Thank you for joining the Senate Democrats in sending a letter to Vice President Pence and Dr. Brix demanding hospital data be handled directly by the CDC, not HHS. We desperately need medical expertise, accuracy and transparency to help combat this virus. Thank you for your time and attention.
