An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Calif. only)

Yes on CA Senate Bill 731

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge swift review and passage of SB 731: The Kenneth Ross Jr. Police Decertification Act of 2020. Police are public servants, and as such must be held answerable for when they abuse their powers as peace officers. Many other professionals can be held accountable for misconduct -- even barbers. Yet California has no laws that can revoke licenses for bad police officers. Worse, they can simply move out of state and take up their misconduct in another community. This has to stop. This bill is a first step towards holding police officers accountable for a variety of misconduct, including unjustified shootings, sexual harassment and lying under oath. Support this bill and vote Yes on its passage. Recent events make it all the more necessary. Thank you.
