Michigan already allows anyone to request an absentee ballot by mail, but the outbreak of COVID-19 necessitates every eligible voter is sent a pre-paid ballot to promote public health and safety.
In order to avoid dangerous in-person situations during upcoming elections, the state needs to step in to support democracy. Acting now will allow us to get a system in place to distribute and collect ballots via an already overwhelmed postal system, and ending the archaic paper request procedure currently in place. Studies continue to show mail-in ballots do not skew towards either party, do not increase voter fraud, and may even increase overall participation.
Provide the ballots, save democracy.
