An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures

Police and Community Reform

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

What is your plan to address needed police reforms? The current protests are another demand for changing the way the people who are supposed to keep our citizens safe too often go beyond their job and execute lethal force. What are you doing to support changes to: * Repealing qualifies immunity to ensure all citizen are held accountable for their actions; no one is above the law * Independent reviews of police to identify those who are violent and discriminatory in their jobs * A state and national database of police records to ensure a fired cop cannot go two jurisdictions over and be hired to repeat the same actions To address injustices in predominantly black communities, what are you doing to: * Expunge records and remove people from jail of minor marijuana convictions * End for-profit prisons that benefit from incarcerating mass people * Ensuring funding for schools is increased in low property tax communities to ensure all children have access to education Now is the time for reform in our state to ensure all people see a better tomorrow.
