Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Watching the country suffer through this pandemic has been such an eye-opening, while frightening, experience. We seem to be floundering, but trying to keep moving forward. A lot of our systems have been shown to be lacking when needed. But our country can, and is, pulling together with a common mission.
However, we have a giant roadblock in the form of our President. I think we're all resolved to the fact that his leadership at this point is going to consist of riding out the storm. And get back to what's most important to him and his needs...destroying all roadblocks for any accountability. Oh, and the government along with it.
So another independent watchdog is about to bite the dust? And it appears that perhaps this is as a result of a potential investigation into Mr. Pompeo?
You gotta admire the complete and utter disregard for appearances. Think your Senate might help smack down this monster you've created? Y'all are the only ones with the power to say enough is enough.
"...Walter Schaub, who used to direct the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, points out that the law requires the president to give 30 days notice of such a removal because Congress intended for its members to be able to prevent exactly the sort of purge in which Trump is engaging. Republican Senators are required by law to stop this behavior⦠but they refuse."
But I'm betting the following will be pretty much the reality:
"Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy tweeted: âUsing foreign aid to destroy rivals. Weaponizing the judiciary. Firing all the inspectors general. Democracies begin to die when a leader starts to destroy the limits on his power, and his faction decides that he is more important than the republic. Welcome to that moment.”"
Please find your backbones.
